After a bit of trouble with iBooks checking for the ability to run unsigned code, and then refusing to let you read books you’d paid for, the Chronic Dev-Team have updated GreenPois0n to RC6.1. They’ve matched the iPhone Dev-Team’s PwnageTool and rolled in Comex’s iBooks fix, which blocks the check, meaning that you shouldn’t have any issues going forwards.
While there are less and less reasons to jailbreak these days, there are still a few key apps, customizations and utilities that you simply can’t get any other way. So if you’re a fan of SBSettings or want custom SMS tones, then head on over to the GreenPois0n site and download RC6.1 for Windows or Mac.

Skype estaba preparando el lanzamiento de una nueva versión para Apple IPhone 4 que contaría con la posibilidad de realizar videollamadas desde Apple IPhone entre diferentes dispositivos haciendo uso de este mismo cliente. Hoy se ha confirmado el rumor ya que el lanzamiento es ahora oficial tal como podemos ver en el sitio web de Skype.
Según publica la empresa, ahora podremos:
- Hacer llamadas y videollamadas gratis entre usuarios de Skype por 3G y WiFi.
- Compartir videollamadas en Skype con personas que usan iPhone, un equipo de PC o un equipo Mac.
- Hablar cara a cara o mostrar lo que estás viendo con las cámaras delantera y posterior.

There’s been some chatter this week with regard to the release of an untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1 devices, such as the iPod Touch, the iPad, and of course, the iPhone. At first, hacker MuscleNerd made it clear in a Tweet that Christmas was an achievable deadline. Days later, hacker Comex posted on Twitter with regard to the uncertainty of making the Christmas deadline.
Now we’re learning that MuscleNerd and the iPhone Dev Team are planning to release a “backup” Redsn0w jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1, which is untethered. The release date? Christmas weekend. Ho, ho, ho.
At present, MuscleNerd and the iPhone Dev Team are seeking testers before public release, and the testing process itself should take anywhere between 24 to 48 hours.

Demonstrating quite clearly why you should never jump straight on an update the moment it’s released, and that good backups are imperative, the latest update to AVG’s free antivirus offering prevents Windows 7 64-bit from booting after a forced post-installation reboot cycle. The 271.1.1/3292 (432/3292) definition update, which requires users to reboot their PC after installation, blocks Windows from booting properly and throws up a c0000135 blue screen of death, requiring that you take recovery action.
AVG as you might expect, have promptly pulled the update and included instructions for use of the AVG Rescue CD/USB, which allows you to simply go into the system drive and rename the offending AVG files so they don’t play a part in the Windows boot cycle. Of course you could enter into Safe Mode and remove the offending piece of software, and while there, why not install our current favorite free antivirus solution, Microsoft Security Essentials?

Google URL Shortener (Goo.gl) now has a simple web interface where you input a URL and receive a shorter one. Nothing revolutionary here, but in addition to keeping track of your previously shortened URLs Google’s touting the following:
