Windows Vista Tip: Easily restore previous file versions

Windows Vista users: You can easily restore previous versions of a recently used file by right-clicking on the file and navigating to the “Previous Versions” tab. Gina touched on this feature as it pertains to directories in the Windows Vista Beta, however, this restoration technique can also be applied to individual files.

You’re revising an important document and realize that the content you deleted an hour ago is information you still need. Are you out of luck? Do you have to recreate it? If you’re running Windows Vista Ultimate or Business editions, you could be in luck. These editions of Windows Vista include a shadow copy feature that enables you to access or restore previously saved versions of a document.

In case you didn’t catch it in the block above, the shadow copy feature is only available in Windows Vista Ulitmate and Windows Vista Business.

Air Travel Tip: Google wants to help you find cheap tickets

If you like searching several of the popular airline ticketing sites when you’re looking for cheap tickets, Google’s integrated a nice feature into their search that identifies when you may be looking for tickets and provides direct links to searches on sites like CheapTickets, Expedia, Hotwire, Orbitz, Priceline, and Travelocity—like this search from San Francisco to Tokyo.

Granted, Google’s got some of the good ones left out (I’m rather partial to Kayak), but it’s a nice way to get a quick overview from the Google search box. This may not be entirely new to Google (it’s definitely not new to Yahoo), but it was news to me.

Fake iPhone Makes You King Camper of the Jesusphone Line

Now you can bamboozle everybody in the iPhone line with this new and improved iPhone papercraft model. Just print it on some thick paper, cut it out and discreetly tape it together, and everybody will think you’ve already gotten your iPhone like Mossy and Pogue.

Yeah, there have been iPhone cutout patterns before, but we haven’t seen any with this kind of detail, complete with top, sides, bottom and simulated shiny Apple logo. Print away, and hey, maybe it’ll be enough to satisfy that iPhone jones. We might have just saved you six C-notes, and there’s no monthly fee, either.

Sony’s Network Camera CF WiFi card hits the FCC

Here’s an interesting find. Upon initial inspection, the SNCA-CFW5 CompactFlash wireless card (uncovered after the jump) doesn’t seem all that special, but after perusing the owner’s manual a bit, it’s evident that this here 802.11b/g card has some very specific intentions. Apparently designed to operate exclusively in “Sony Network Cameras” (presumably of the surveillance variety), this unit has found its way into the FCC and looks to be green lit for operation on the 2.4GHz band. Moreover, the SNCA-AN1 external antenna can be added on to extend the range even further. Unsurprisingly, there’s no hints of whether or not this here device will eventually be tweaked for use in other wares, but it’s only a matter of time before someone shoves this thing in a laptop or digicam and tests lady luck.
